DUNEA’S FIRST BEACH CLEAN-UP WITH SEACLEAR2.0!

We are delighted to share the successful completion of the first beach clean-up by #SeaClear2 project partner, DUNEA!

In a collaborative effort between the SeaClear 2.0 project and the Europe Direct project of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, a marine litter clean-up event took place on December 8, 2023. The chosen location was the beach at the mouth of the Neretva River in Opuzen. It is a site of significance as the sole delta in Croatia and a Ramsar site, and an ichthyological-ornithological reserve.

Opuzen Secondary Agricultural Technical School students joined the initiative, along with representatives from the Regional Agency of DUNEA. This waste clean-up aligns with the new European Commission mission under the HOZIRON EUROPE program “Mission Ocean,” which aims to restore our oceans and seas by 2030.

During the two-hour event, students successfully collected over 100 kg of waste, comprising various fractions such as plastic, glass, textiles, and discarded electrical appliances.

Witness the positive impact we can achieve together by viewing the photos!
