In this experiment by our colleagues at The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, we see a TurtleBot ground robot searching for the darkest areas on a surface using a novel algorithm developed by the UTC team.
The level of gray in the experiment symbolizes the density of litter at any given location. In the SeaClear2.0 robotic system, the algorithm could be scaled up and applied to search for the densest concentrations of underwater litter.
