After 16 months of collaboration, innovation, and strong community engagement, the RECLAIM Project has come to a close 👏
Implemented as part of the SeaClear2.0 Associated Regions, RECLAIM brought together municipalities, research organisations, industry partners, and volunteers across Møre og Romsdal to address marine litter through hands-on actions and digital tools.
Together, they:
• Organised 6 clean-up actions, removing more than 600 kg of marine litter
• Collected 200+ geo-tagged data entries through the PlastOPol app
• Engaged 13 volunteer organisations and over 15 industry partners
• Strengthened cooperation across Ålesund, Kristiansund, and Molde
• Contributed to research, policy development, and awareness-raising
A key outcome of the project was the use of PlastOPol, supporting citizen-driven data collection and enabling more informed decision-making on marine litter management.
Beyond the results, RECLAIM has created a strong foundation for future work. It highlights how local action, when combined with technology and collaboration, can drive meaningful impact.
While the project has officially ended, its legacy continues. The knowledge, partnerships, and tools developed will support ongoing and future initiatives within the SeaClear framework and beyond.
A sincere thank you to the RECLAIM team and everyone involved for their valuable contribution to the SeaClear2.0 community. 🙏
