After a long winter, spring is finally here = pool cleaning time at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca!
In preparation of the upcoming pose estimation and mapping experiments in the outdoor pool of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Costin, Davian, and Adrian (behind the camera) took a break from brainy robotics algorithms to do some muscle work. That is, clean the pool and install a “ground truth grid” made out of welded mesh (engineers will engineer 🤣/make do with what they have!).
Through these experiments, our colleagues at UTC will be able to validate the ROV’s pose estimation using images from an overhead camera, by automatically counting the number of squares on both axes.
