Next stop, Skyros!

For their second stop, the Mermaid project visited schools across Skyros Island, Greece, raising awareness on the how technoclogical solutions can be leveraged to tackle marine pollution.

Through educational workshops and a live showcase at Skyros Harbor, 300 local students had the opportunity to learn about marine pollution and interact with robotic solutions utilised for litter collection, such as an RoV, Waste Shark and a Drone. During their visit, Mermaid’s team also had the opportunity to do a full mapping of the harbor, and meet with the Mayor and with the local community representatives to discuss and develop policy recommendations.

The Mermaid Project is implemented by Aegean Rebreath through the grant allocated to the Associated Regions of the SeaClear2.0 project, which brings together three members of the Blue Municipalities Network!
