For their third stop, the Mermaid project visited the island of Alonissos, Greece.
4 full days of participatory initiatives including:
🏫 Educational workshops in schools across the island
🤖 ROV reef explorations for the identification of ghost fishing nets
⚓ Seabed clean-ups in 4 ports of the island
🧴 Collection of mesoplastics, sea sediment, and seawater samples from local beaches, which will be sent to the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research – HCMR for further analysis
🗣️ Consultations with local authorities and the local community
