On September 4, 2023, the United Nations Environment Programme released the Zero Draft text of the international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, commonly known as the UN Plastics Treaty. You can find the document here.

The official discussion of this text will take place during the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee’s third session (INC-3), scheduled from November 13 to 19, 2023, at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Leading up to INC-3, the Innovation Alliance for a Global Plastics Treaty, in collaboration with the Co-Chairs of the Nairobi Group of Friends to Combat Marine Litter and Plastic Pollution (NGoFs), Chile and Portugal, is organizing two interactive webinars. These webinars will focus on discussing the methods and challenges of implementing the Global Plastics Treaty. Attendees will include policymakers, international organizations, private sector stakeholders, and NGOs. The first webinar took place on November 1st.
