The Lawnmower scan is the scan performed by the mini-Tortuga, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), – the component of the SeaClear2.0 robotic system responsible for scanning the seabed for the detection of litter using its camera and imaging sonar. It is called that simply because it has a lawnmower shape, which helps us ensure uniform coverage of the seabed.
SeaClear2.0 aims to design smarter seabed litter search patterns that take into account the litter detected to identify areas that are likely to contain more litter. This allows the SeaClear2.0 system robots to identify and map marine litter faster and more efficiently, saving time and energy!
