Taking action for cleaner coasts in Poti, Georgia!

On 1 May 2026, a total of 95 participants came together in Poti for a coastal cleanup and environmental awareness campaign organised as part of the Plastic Litter Prevention Georgia project, supported through the SeaClear2.0 Associated Regions grant.

Under the slogan “Let’s Make the Environment Better and Keep the Sea Clean”, students, teachers and municipal employees joined forces to help protect the local marine environment and raise awareness about pollution and waste management. ♻️

Before the cleanup, participants attended a workshop entitled “National Policy, Waste Management, International Practice and Challenges in the Prevention of Microplastic Pollution”, focusing on waste management policies, international practices and the growing challenge of microplastic pollution. The initiative was organised by the Department of Sustainable Development and Innovation of Poti Municipality City Hall in cooperation with the Georgian Environmental and Sustainable Development Group and several municipal organisations, including the Municipal Inspection Service, Swimming Pool, Folklore Center, Central Park, and Sports and Tourism Center, all working together for a cleaner future.
